1815 F.C. and DDR presents… The 2023 Women's World Cup Unofficial Celebrations
Ireland’s leading DIY football club, 1815 FC have teamed up with Dublin Digital Radio to celebrate the Women’s World Cup this summer through screenings, a music release, a commemorative zine, unofficial merchandise and dedicated radio shows for coverage.
Taking its name from a piece of fan art produced in a kids workshop, YUP GIRLS promises to be a jam packed programme this summer.
Ireland World Cup Music Compilation
Do you think you could write Ireland’s next big football anthem? The 1815 F.C. Unofficial World Cup Steering Committee welcomes you to submit a track celebrating football for our new release this coming summer. Could your donk track be the next ‘Put ‘em under pressure’? Could you get a footballer to drop a verse as good as John Barnes’ in ‘World in Motion’? This is Ireland’s fourth football world cup and especially historic for the women’s team, who only achieved equal pay in 2021. Managed by the cosmic Vera Pauw and led by the bold Katie McCabe, this is a team full of personalities ripe for becoming the muse of a football anthem. The team famously courted controversy by chanting the Wolfetone’s lyric ‘Oh Ah Up the Ra’, after beating Scotland 1-0 - resulting in a media meltdown.
This release is open to any interpretation of a football song, be it dance, pop, rap, noise, ambient metal, spoken word, skits - anything aural that celebrates football and our incredible national team. We will put out a physical release as well as bandcamp. The release will be celebrated through a DDR live launch on air.
Profits from the sales of the release will go back into community football projects.
2nd of July deadline for submissions.

Reflecting on our 6th birthday, 1815 F.C. started as a magazine and now it’s time to return to our publishing roots. We welcome artwork, writing, scene reports, deep dives on players, interviews, poetry, posters, fanfiction - anything that can sit on a piece of paper.
This is your chance to be part of a living piece of world cup memorabilia.
