UMUTI:MA is a double entendre referring to 2 words in Kinyarwanda umuti; “medicine” and umutima “heart”. This project is an ode to art, and a testimony to its transformative power. Being a cure (umuti), and a cause (umutima), art is an extension of our lives. Our experiences, ideas, feelings, lessons, memories and so much more are expressed and immortalised through art. UMUTI:MA is Laura Twagirayezu’s curatorial project, out of which UMUTI:MA fm, and other bits have sprouted. With an hour long radio show every 4 weeks, UMUTI:MA fm aims to share and explore music through brief conversations with lovers of art.
