ddr. AGM

12 April 2025

6.30pm

The AGM is our yearly meeting where we gather together to vote on motions, elect a new steering committee , and have beer and pizza. We are delighted to be able to host this year’s AGM in our studio's new home in Flux. You will also be able to attend online if you are not in Dublin.

As always, we need your motions to help shape ddr. for the year to come and into the future. This year, we are also asking for people to nominate themselves to be on the steering committee. The links for both are below if you need them, please scroll down for further information on motions , voting and steering committee nominations.

Why attend the ddr. AGM?

ddr. is a member led organisation, so we need your input to help steer the stations direction for the coming year and beyond. If you are a resident or a supporter, it is important that you engage with things like the AGM. ddr. is YOUR online radio station, so show up and get involved! It is also a really great chance to meet each other and get to know the other ddr, community members, share ideas, etc.

What can I do to get involved in the AGM process?

You can come along, join the discussions and vote on motions and steering committee election. You can submit a motion for discussion and voting. And most importantly, come and hang out! Everyone is welcome, even if you do not submit a motion and just want to join in the fun.

What is a motion?

Motions and discussion are ESSENTIAL to ddr. A motion is a submission made by a member for discussion and voting at the AGM. Motions are usually focused on changing something to do with how the station is run, our guiding principles, our commitments to our members, etc.

The steering committee is responsible for enacting the motions that pass the vote. Some motions may need more than one year to fulfil - the steering committee will inform people at the AGM what is a realistic time frame for each motion.

If there is anything you'd like to see ddr. doing that we are not doing currently in terms of our organsing, or something you'd like to see become an organisational principle, then you can submit a motion, which we will compile and circulate to everyone before the AGM. These will then be discussed and voted on at the AGM. No motion is too big or too small, and we want your input! So please do submit at the link below.

Sometimes people submit things that might be more examples of projects we could do in ddr. The steering committee may separate these from the other motions where appropriate, and also bring them to the AGM, but these may not be voted on in the same way as motions. NO IDEA IS A BAD IDEA, so please submit!

If you want to submit a motion but are unsure, please get in touch and we will try to help you.

Steering Committee Nomination

At each AGM, members vote for the Steering Committee who oversee the running of the station. The work of the Steering Committee is very broad, but there are several important roles and responsibilities that are essential in ensuring that ddr. continues to operate on a day to day basis, as well as plan towards longer term strategic goals.

We are looking for ddr. members/volunteers to join the Steering Committee for the upcoming year.

What is the Steering Committee (SC)?

The SC consists of six to twelve members chosen by election of the organisational membership at the AGM. Information on what the Steering Committee does is here - please read this carefully if you are considering putting yourself forward: ddr. Steering Committee - Responsibilities & Procedures

Who gets to run for Steering Committee positions?

Any member who has been in the organisation for at least 3 months, whether they are a volunteer, patron or resident. However, we’d encourage those joining the Steering Committee to be currently volunteering with the station or have volunteered in the past so they have a good understanding of the running of the station.

If you are interested in putting yourself forward but are unsure whether you meet the requirements, please don’t hesitate in getting in touch with us .

How do I put myself forward as a candidate?

How are people elected to the Steering Committee?

Candidates must fill out the nomination form (see above). Nominations will be circulated to ddr. members for consideration in advance of the AGM. Nominees will be asked to introduce themselves at the AGM on 12 April and make a short statement about why they should be on the steering committee. We ask that nominees state the area of work they feel they can contribute to the most, and base their self-nomination around that. Roles will be assigned during the first meeting of the newly elected steering committee.

There will be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 people elected. Candidates may not vote for themselves, and must receive a minimum of one vote to be elected. In the event that there are more than 12 candidates, those with the most votes will be elected.

Voting

Voting on the motions and to elect the steering committee will be anonymous, via an app. Only ddr. members (paid patreon subscribers) can vote.

We will circulate the motions and the steering committee nominees before the AGM, so you have a chance to familiarise yourself with them.

Please come along and participate in the AGM, submit a motion, and help steer ddr.!
