POETIC DWELLING ARCHIVE
First Show - Thursday February 1st, 13.00 - 14.00
Welcome to the 'Poetic Dwelling Archive', a community project led by Leitrim artists Natalia Beylis & Edwina Guckian in which we archive and present stories, music and news from our local area. The project covers a radius of 50 townlands located around our two homes and seeks to research the documented history of the area as well as collect new material through submissions from people living in the area and those born in the area. We invite anyone who lives in the 50 townlands included within the 'Poetic Dwelling Archive' catchment area to submit stories, recipes, folklore, mythology, music, poems, history, field recordings, research on culture, nature, historical events and community. It doesn't matter if your family has lived in the area for generations or if you have only recently moved to the area. Everyone within the 50 townlands is very welcome to contribute! Email leitrimarchive@gmail.com for submissions, full details and to get a list of the townlands. (Basically, the catchment area stretches from north of Drumsna Village to the far side of Sheemore. From Annaduff Glebe to the east and along the R299 to the west.)
'The Poetic Dwelling' catchment area is only special in that it could be anyplace at all. Scratch beneath the surface of any 50 townlands in Ireland and you'll find the same magic and folklore that we hope to uncover here.
We would like to thank the Leitrim Arts Office for their kind support in making this project possible.
