OPEN CALL: Queering the Airwaves 2026

What does Queer community mean to you?
This year, Queering the Airwaves, a collaborative initiative between Dublin Digital Radio (ddr.) and éist in Cork, invites LGBTQ+ voices, organisers, artists, musicians, activists, storytellers and communities to reflect on the theme of community in all its forms.
As Ireland’s Queer landscapes continue to evolve, what spaces have we inherited, and what new ones are we building? How do Queer communities exist across cities, towns, online networks, dance floors and activist spaces?
Queering the Airwaves 2026 invites individuals and groups, regardless of broadcasting experience, to submit proposals for radio programming during the week leading up to Dublin Pride (22-28th June) and Cork Pride (27th July - 2nd Aug). We welcome proposals of all kinds: sonic experiments, conversations, oral histories, documentaries, live broadcasts, DJ mixes for collective joy, reflections on local Queer scenes, and everything in between.
To celebrate this year’s edition of Queering the Airwaves, ddr. and éist will host a launch party at Flux Studios, Dublin 2, on Saturday June 20th, featuring DJs and selectors from both stations. Bringing together communities from Dublin and Cork, the event will mark the beginning of this year’s programme. More details and lineup announcements coming soon.
Through this collaboration between Dublin and Cork, ddr. and éist hope to create space for connection across communities, celebrating the many ways Queer people gather, resist, imagine and care for one another.
Dublin Digital Radio serves as an independent platform, providing an alternative media outlet for our communities. ddr. is wholly funded by its members, ensuring it remains independent of corporate influence and run democratically by its growing community.
éist is a volunteer-run internet radio collective based in Cork city, Ireland, dedicated to fostering creativity, collaboration, and aiming to promote and support community-driven digital radio initiatives, encouraging the production and dissemination of a diverse variety of audio content, and fostering a sense of community among members through collaboration and shared projects.
Submit your proposal through this form before the deadline of June 7th.
